Zen Park

“If you sit near a waterfall, you listen to it. You become quiet, silent. You absorb. You allow the waterfall to go deeper and deeper within you. Then everything becomes quiet and silent within. The word for this experience is delight.”

—Michael Menahem Gottlieb, Founder of Royal Way

It’s fitting that the Zen Park features a waterfall that tumbles into a stream and a series of ponds, all surrounded by lush plant life, garden paths, and meditation benches. The sound of flowing water fills the air. It’s truly a place to experience delight.

A handcrafted stone wall encloses the Zen Park, giving it a sense of sanctuary within a sanctuary. In one nook of the park is an open-air teahouse, built in the Japanese style, and beside it is a meditation fountain that invites quiet contemplation and reflection.

Michael Gottlieb frequently drew from the lessons of Zen. “Zen teaches: Live the moment,” he wrote. In the Zen Park in the heart of Royal Way Spiritual Center, the senses converge. Here it’s entirely possible to experience the fullness of the moment—the here and now, silence, stillness.
